Taking holiday/annual leave in correspondence games

How do I take annual leave/holiday in correspondence games?
It's long been a debate in the online correspondence world about whether vacation time is needed now that most people still have internet access when on vacation or otherwise away from home. On this site it's apparently felt that vacation isn't needed, or at least not by enough people to make it worthwhile to implement it. That is the reason why I don't play correspondence here because there are times when I really do need a time-out.

The only thing I can suggest is that you explain to your opponents that you need a time-out between the given dates and ask them to add time during that period so that the game can continue when you return. That isn't very satisfactory, but it's all you can do.
I think it would be useful to have flexible time controls for correspondence; for example, something like 5 or 10 moves in 30 days, instead of fixed time for each move, which would allow you to accumulate some time on the clock.

You can't, you have the responsibility when you start so many games.
Thanks for your replies. The vacation facility is available on chess.com, but evidently not on lichess.
By the way, @Cedur216, it's not really a a case of how many games you have in progress. If you have a long flight into a different time zone, and playing say a 2 day game, it can get confusing. Anyway, thanks for clarifying.
Vacation time while playing correspondance is also available on Red Hot Pawn / Daily Chess, or Gameknot.
On here I compensate by playing 3 days/move (rather than the 1 day/move I played on the other sites) just so I have flexibility to not move for a couple of days if other life stuff is super busy.

It is often misused on CC. Often times i'll begin a game only to see the opponent on vacation with a message saying they have months of time accrued. Then check to see that they continuing to play rapid or blitz games. Annoying but it seems to be abused more pften than not.

Yes, this definitely happens, and many correspondence players will be annoyed when it does. However there are also those of us who don't mind in the least if our opponent pauses the game for a couple of months. We just start new games with other opponents as necessary and wait patiently for the absent opponent to be forced to carry on.

So I would advocate implementing vacation time and making it an option for players (or event organisers) to allow it or not, just as they can choose the number of days per move. That's how it works on chessdotcom. That way everyone will be happy. And I would personally relish taking up correspondence again here.
Is this a joke?
You cannot wake up in the morning, have a coffee, and make a move?
You really need a long vacation from correspondence, which is incredibly slow to begin with?
That's kind of pathetic.
