New chess variants?

I think that the popularity of chess makes it irreplaceable. However spartan chess would be a great new "branch" off of the chess tree. New things to study, new tricks to learn , the joy of learning a great game like chess all over again.

Time used for developing these is less time for developing/debugging the website as is, so better focus on one thing and do it well.

That being said, I would definately try out Spartan chess and all other variants for that matter. Also secretly hoping for a sister site that implements GO.

What is that website ? Is it part of lichess?

they actually announced that they were very much inspired by lichess when they launched :)

It is where the code behind lichess lives and is being developed. You can also report bugs there and suggest changes in the code directly.

Thanks for the link. I am not a fan of the advertisements, though.

@JoeMaro Unfortunately, it a) runs ads, and b) isn't open source. I brought up the parallels between OGS and lichess around ornicar and he wasn't entirely pleased with the comparison, because the same philosophy isn't there.

ah ok, i stand corrected then. I only checked it when they started and back then they didn't have ads then.
