I think there is something to be said for Lichess taking this stance when they were under no pressure to do so. You see many large brands giving support to the BLM movement, and some of it is likely because of the good optics and PR they get from doing so. But Lichess faced no political, monetary, or social pressure to make this post. That is how you know their intentions are genuine and well-meaning. I also appreciate that they didn't lock the comments on this thread like chess.com did.

This is an embarrassment. I am ashamed. BLM doesn't care about anybody. They are a hate group, racists. If you are going to support something, inform yourselves on the matter in an objective reasonable manner beforehand.
I think raising money for that "BLM Movement" is stupid, since there are more important and urgent issues at the moment. Donating for the fight against Covid-19 matters more.
