Take back ettiquette

I am very generous with take backs but the last
request would have cost me my Queen and the
game. The other player kept making the request
then eventually resigned the game. Where do you draw the
line?
You can not win by letting your opponent redeem his mistakes, while you have to live with your own. Personally, I grant take backs very rarely and ask for them even more sparsely, I try to let it be a lesson to myself by trying to defend the position, because it hurts :) I might even offer my opponent the opportunity to take back if one of the following is true;
* a genuine mouse slip (classical time controls)
* extremely obvious blunder in an otherwise very interesting game.

But, this is no etiquette !, it is my personal choice (also subject to spur of the moment). The etiquette, if there is any is in requesting the take back, there shouldn't be any insisting involved for sure, and no soreness about a possible rejection.
The line has already been drawn for you: take back is not included in the rules of chess.
Turn on move confirmations and eliminate mouseslips altogether. No need for a takeback. When time gets low, one click turns it off and you can just live with any mistakes from there (you don't get to sacrifice accuracy for speed and then have your inaccuracies forgiven).
