Lichess is a safe haven to come to when you seek asylum from the visual overstimulation of the world, and especially the internet out there.
If I seek a decent sensory overload, with cat pictures and all that, I go to reddit.
To me even your profile is _mine_ if i click it. I would feel violated by others to see things I don't want to. If I click a profile on lichess it is purely about chess. I don't want to see how others look like, or what others think would add a cool visual note to their profile.
On lichess every pixel is wisely chosen to respect even the visual needs of pure silence, for a good chess atmosphere.
Lichess is the Zen master of chess websites. And I hope it stays that way.

lichess is a free website, so any moderators would be volunteers. Perhaps you could volunteer to look through thousands of profile pics?
chess.com gets by just fine with many profile pictures
