Prize Eligibility, Abbreviations, & Entry Fees

Eligibility Criteria:
Open Section:

  • Any player participating in the tournament is eligible to win these prizes, provided they have paid the entry fee. If a player has not paid the entry fee and wins a prize, 50% of the prize amount will be deducted and used to help fund the prize pool for the next event. Players must purchase the entry fee before the event starts.

Rated Sections:

  • Eligibility for prizes in all rated sections, except the open section, requires players to either have paid the entry fee or be using a free entry prize won in the last event. Being a titled player with a qualifying rating (as per FIDE, CS, or ECF chess grade) alone does not grant eligibility for prizes in the rated sections. Prize eligibility in the rated sections hinges on having paid the entry fee or having secured a free entry prize from the previous event.

Lucky Rank Prizes:

  • To be eligible for these prizes, players must have paid the entry fee.

Abbreviations Explained:

  • FIDE: Fédération Internationale des Échecs
  • CS: Chess Scotland
  • ECF: English Chess Federation

Entry Fee Tiers:

  • Early Bird: £12.99 (Until 25th February)
  • Standard: £15 (26th February until the 26th of March)
  • Late Entry: £20 (From 27th March until the tournament's end at 9 PM on 29th March. Note: Entries are accepted during the tournament but not after its conclusion.)

Discounts for Titled Players:
Titled players receive free entry. However, as stated in the Terms & Conditions above, titled players are granted complimentary entry to participate in the tournament but must have purchased the entry fee to be eligible for prizes. This excludes the Open Section, where prize winners who have not paid the entry fee will have 50% deducted from their prize, and this amount will be used to help fund the prize pool for the next event.

If you are a titled player and wish to claim your free entry and be added to the list of permitted players, please contact Coatsi Chess. Email us at contact@coatsichess.com or send a direct message on lichess to @CoatsiChess.
